What Happened to GOTOKY?

Because the evidence is limited, this article is deliberately cautious: it separates "announced", "crowdfunded", "promised shipping" and "verified delivery", and does not infer a shutdown date or a bankruptcy.

What is on the record

GOTOKY was developed by Gotoky Communication, a company in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Its co-founders were Denis Loncar (CEO) and Katja Lipicnik (CMO). The company took part in the HighTechXL accelerator in 2015. The concept came about after Loncar was injured hiking with no signal.

Around September 2017, GOTOKY ran a Kickstarter campaign, "GOTOKY. Most advanced private off-grid communication network", with super-early-bird pledges from about EUR 55. The campaign passed a fairly modest goal and raised more than $38,000. A press release dated 8 November 2017 said the project was moving to Indiegogo InDemand for a further round of funding. The stated estimated delivery date was April 2018.

According to the campaign, the device paired to a phone over Bluetooth, used license-free UHF frequencies in the dual 868/915 MHz bands, promised voice and text (1-to-1 and group), an emergency button, offline topographic maps, navigation and tracking, and could store up to 1,000 messages on its own.

After that

After the 2017-2018 announcement and funding period, coverage of GOTOKY goes quiet. From the public sources available, there are no verified reports of devices reaching backers at any meaningful scale, and no announcements about delays, about shipping, or about the project stopping.

As of this research (September 2026), the gotoky.com domain no longer hosts project content - it redirects to a listing offering the domain name for sale on a domain marketplace. In other words, the original website is gone.

What can't be confirmed

• Whether GOTOKY ever delivered any working devices to backers.
• The total amount and backer count from the Indiegogo InDemand round.
• Whether the iOS/Android app was ever released.
• When and why Gotoky Communication stopped operating, if it did.

There is no public evidence of a shutdown date or a bankruptcy. What can be said is: a project raised a modest sum in 2017, promised delivery in 2018, left no public evidence of a working product reaching backers, and its website has now disappeared.
